How to Get Married in Manitoba: A Simple Guide

Getting married in Manitoba is a three-step process. As an authorized marriage license issuer, Immijet Immigration Services can help you get started with the very first step.

Here is a simple overview of the process:

Step 1: Get Your Marriage License

This is the most important legal document you need before your ceremony.

    • Where to Get It: You can get your official marriage license right from our Immijet Immigration Services office. We are authorized by the Government of Manitoba to issue them.

    • When: You must buy the license at least 24 hours before your wedding ceremony. It is valid for three months.

    • What You Need: Both partners must be present and provide valid, original government-issued photo ID (like a passport, driver’s license, or PR card). If you were married before, you must bring proof of divorce or a death certificate.

Step 2: Have Your Wedding Ceremony

Once you have your license, you can get married!

    • Your ceremony must be performed by a registered Marriage Commissioner or a religious official (clergy). ImmiJet Immigration can arrange a Marriage Commissioner for you as well!

    • You will also need two witnesses to be present at the ceremony.

    • After the ceremony, you, your witnesses, and your officiant will all sign the marriage license document.

Step 3: Register the Marriage & Get Your Certificate

This final step makes it official.

    • Your officiant will send the signed registration form to Manitoba’s Vital Statistics Agency.

    • Apply to the Vital Statistics Agency to get your official Certificate of Marriage.
