How to advertise LMIA Jobs in Canada
In this section we will discuss why Canadian employers are required to advertise LMIA jobs and what are the best options available online to fulfil this condition.
Why there is need to advertise?
Canadian employers who need a Labour Market Impact Assessment(LMIA) in order to hire foreign workers will oftentimes need to complete an advertising requirement.
The purpose of the advertising requirement is to demonstrate to the Canadian government that there are no Canadian workers available or willing to fill a job vacancy. Employers must satisfy the guidelines set out by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the federal government department that oversees the LMIA process.
To meet the advertising requirement, employers must advertise all job vacancies across the Canadian job market for at least four weeks before applying for an LMIA.
Options where employers can advertise job postings
Employers must prove they have used at least three recruitment methods.
1. Canada Job Bank Website
One has to be a posting on the Canada Job Bank website, where employers or their representatives can post jobs for free. Canada Job Bank is an online platform run by the Government of Canada that provides free services to job seekers and employers. Job seekers can search for job opportunities, create a profile, and receive job alerts based on their preferences. Employers can post job ads, search for potential candidates, and get access to recruitment tools and resources.
